Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actress, dancer and vocalist since the mid 1990s. Her first roles on Broadway include in the Musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. In You Can't Take It With You She was the recipient of the Tony Award as Best Featured actor in the Play. Annaleigh Ashford, a Tony Award-winning actor and director has spent most of her career working alongside well-known directors and actors on screen and in television. Ashford is next seen opposite Kumail Nannjiani as part of Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford is currently working on the film of Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson. The film will be aired on Disney DTC in the form of a Hulu Original. Ashford is scheduled to return to Broadway in March 2023, where he will star alongside Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production will be held located at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will be the creative team for the show. Ashford's last role was as Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on a nationwide scandal that involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, and Linda Tripp. She was the star of two seasons of CBS comedy B Positive. It was created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the legendary Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not familiar with Broadway has won two Tony Drama Desk Awards as in addition to Outer Critics Circle Awards in her character in the role of Essie. Other Broadway roles include Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the originating role of Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she was awarded a second Tony Award nomination. Ashford lives in Los Angeles & New York. Her birthplace was in Denver & raised there.
